Using Garageband was a bit difficult to get the hang of. The most daunting part for me was to try and figure out how I could make the two songs fade in and out while playing. Having never have used Garageband before I had to watch a number of videos to try and figure it out but that is the beauty of knowledge sharing. On Youtube there were videos on videos of people walking you through the steps and showing you every aspect of Garageband so you could use it yourself and feel like a professional.
When I first started I saw the option to make your own sounds which I thought was pretty cool. I was messing around with the instruments and started trying to make beats that I thought sounded good and that I could potentially use for my assignment. After a lot of time I stopped and thought about what I wanted my commercial to say and the beats that I had made did not coincide with my ideas. I wanted songs that uplifted you but also made you think which is why I chose the Eye Of the Tiger instrumental for the beginning to amplify you and then it fades into Shallow to make you reflect on your own ideas and ambitions.
Figuring out how to upload media files to the Garageband was also challenging. Then I watched a Youtube video about converting it to an Mp3 file. When I saw that I instantly thought of my middle school days when I down download youtube videos and convert them to mp3 files so I could have them on my Ipod and when I realized it was the same thing as this I had no issues.
Overall I enjoyed this assignment the most. The reason for that is because I was exposed to Garageband something I never really saw the need to use but after using it and seeing all the cool features it posses I will certainly go back and mess around with sounds and beats.
